Man was created to have fellowship with God. But because of his stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will characterised by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin. Romans 3:23 KJV For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Because man has fallen short of God's glory, such as good life, philosophy, prosperity, abundant blessing, happy homes, blissful marriages, morals, good health, long life, joy, happiness, peace, …, man is constantly trying to reach God. This is the result of man's sin, which the consequence is death, spiritual separation from God. Romans 6:23 KJV The wages of sin is death … But because God loves us so much he allowed His only son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Romans 5:8 NIV God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins to pay the consequences, the penalty for our sins, to bridged the gulf, which separates us from God. As a result of His death and resurrection on the third day became the pathway to our eternal life, our reconnection with God. John 14:6 NKJV Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
We must receive Jesus Christ … John 1:12 AMP But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name We receive Jesus Christ through Faith … Ephesians 2:8-9 AMP For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved ( delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.] When we receive and accept Jesus Christ into our lives, we experience a new birth … John 3:3 AMP Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God. For all our sins to be completely forgiven, no matter what the sin might be, for us to have a new life, for us to experience the new birth, for us to experience the Love of God, all it takes is by personal invitation. Revelation 3:20 NIV "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Receiving Jesus Christ involves turning to God from self by repenting and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive us our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just agreeing intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is NOT enough. We need to confess with our mouth, believe Jesus Christ died for our sins and receive Jesus Christ into our lives by FAITH. Romans 10:9-10 AMP Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. If you are willing to receive and accept Jesus Christ into your life, just take a moment to talk to God from your heart, let Him know that you want Him to be a part of your life and you believe that Jesus Christ came to die for your sins too. If you are ready, please pray this simple prayer: "Lord Jesus, I know that I need you. I've done things my own way up until now, and I realise that I need your love and forgiveness in my life. I believe that you died for my sin on the cross, and I ask you to forgive me of my sins. I don't want to live the way I have been living. I want to turn away from this old life and live before you. I am trusting you and I am making a decision to follow you, Jesus. So, I ask you to come into my life and make a change in my heart right now. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and for being there right now. I accept you as my Lord and saviour, I accept that your word is true and I will begin to follow you from this moment forward. Thank you for coming into my life, thank you for receiving me into your family; In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
