Focus

This is the year of great beginning, a year of abundant blessing, a year of God’s favour. And God will surely glorify Himself in our lives as we embark on making our dreams and visions reality.

We all have vision for this year, the vision, the action plans are written down and we are already on motion. But the road might not be as smooth as we thought it would be. Along the way, we will face different challenges and oppositions that could hinder our vision, which could deter us from achieving the set goals.

From the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah had a vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, but he faced very strong oppositions.

Nehemiah 4:7-8 NKJV
Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion.

We should have in mind that not everyone would embrace our vision, there would be distracters. Situations and circumstances such as lack of financial resources, unforeseen cause of events might affect our vision. And different challenges will face in everyday life could sap the zeal we have for our vision.

But like Nehemiah, we should stay focused all through, having our minds set on accomplishing the vision,

Nehemiah 4:6 AMP
So we built the wall, and all [of it] was joined together to half its height, for the people had a heart and mind to work.

…stay connected to God,

Nehemiah 4:9 NKJV
Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

…trust in God,

Nehemiah 4:20 NKJV
Our God will fight for us.

...and keep striving on till your vision become reality.

Nehemiah 6:15 – 16 NKJV
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God.

Remember, your ability to stay focused is one of the determinants of the reality of your vision.
